For several months I had driven past Heathy Bodies located on Chatham Road in Summit, NJ and had always wanted to check it out because it looked like a place where I could get results. It looked like a personal, well-equipped studio to receive one-on-one attention. In May, 2016 I stopped in and met the owner and lead trainer Darren DiGiacomo. Darren and I sat down and discussed my health and fitness goal, namely to lose body fat while simultaneously adding muscle mass. We quickly agreed on a plan forward and now it was time to get to work. Over the course of the next year, I visited the studio about 3 times per week and told Darren I would take his lead and be willing to put in the work; to essentially be a piece of clay that Daren could shape based on my personal goals to be a more healthy me. In addition to the 3 workouts per week, Darren offered nutrition guidance, as well as 1-2 supplemental cardio workouts on the weekends.

Due to a combination of Darren’s formal training, experience and personal motivation, and my efforts, I lost over 13 pounds of body fat while simultaneously adding about 8 pounds of muscle, for a net change of 21 pounds of body composition. My body fat index went from 22.8% to 17.3%. Not only did I feel a lot better, I looked a lot better. The leaner I got, the more muscular my body appeared to have as well. It was a great transformation through partnership. About a year in work has taken me to Boston but I continue to use the knowledge gained during my time with Darren and he checks in as well to see how I am doing against my goals.

I would highly recommend Darren DiGiacomo as a fitness trainer and nutritionist.    Darren is highly professional and a dedicated  goals oriented trainer.    I have worked out with Darren for 20 years and I have achieved significant gains in weight training and overall fitness which is extremely important to me.  Darren is a highly skilled and knowledgeable trainer and is able to design  workout plans and fitness goals depending on the needs of the individual including becoming stronger and more healthy or being sports related.   When I started working out with Darren, I could barely lift 225 pounds for 1  rep.   Over the years, Darren took my max bench to 345 pounds and trained me  to being able to do 19 reps of 225 pounds  bench press.     Darren is an extremely safe trainer and is always very careful  when I am lifting heavy weight and takes technique very seriously.   Another example of Darren’s dedication is that I shared with him that I wanted to learn how to play  flag football and Darren coached me with football drills.   We would start out the workout and lift and then do football drills for the latter part of the workout.    Darren taught me how to play center and defensive lineman and allowed me to play on his flag football team which  competed yearly at an annual charity event.   Darren  also trains my 18 yr old son and worked with him with strength training and his nutrition.  My son has also making great fitness gains with Darren.
